Route 66 Welcome Center
Celebrating nearly 100 years as Americaâs Mother Road, the legendary Route 66 highway corridor begins in Chicago and travels southwest through Illinois and along the entire western edge of Montgomery County. The original Route 66 highway meandered through the American Southwest and ended in Los Angeles. In Illinois, Route 66 has been replaced by Interstate 55, which runs parallel to the old Route 66, and brings easy access to Montgomery County.
